Perma-Shield Gliding Window (1971 to 1991) Andersen® Perm-Shield gliding window is a wood window that is covered with vinyl on interior and exterior. The sash open horizontally with a single moving panel. The operating panel does not have rollers and instead has metal rail glides that slide on the window sill. The lock handle is located on the edge of the operating panel and is triangular shaped. When locked it pushes a locking rod into the head jamb (top) of the window and into the sill of the window.
400 Series Gliding Window(1991 to Present) Andersen® 400 Series gliding windows feature a contemporary gliding
design along with a natural wood interior that can be painted or
stained. The exterior of the window frame and both sash are covered with maintenance free "Perma-Shield" vinyl. Both sash on the 400 Series gliding windows can open horizontally. The lock for the window is a handle which is located on the surface of the active sash. To move the active sash you have to unlock the sash and pull the sash inward and over.
200 Series Gliding Window(2002 to Present) Andersen® 200 Series gliding windows feature a contemporary design along with a natural wood interior that can be painted or stained. They open horizontally with a single moving sash that slides to the right. The lock for the window is cam lock located on the edge of the operating sash and locks into a keeper on the stationary sash.
