How to identify this window:
The exterior of this window is what Andersen calls "Perma-Shield". For this window the sash are vinyl covered on the exterior. The interior of the sash are wood which can be stained or painted. The frame of the window is made up of a fibrex material. Fibrex has the look and feel of fiberglass. The lock for the window is a handle which is located on the surface of the active sash. The hardware is available in a variety of finishes. When the lock is engaged the handle is vertical and it locks to the passive sash in three spots. To move the active sash you have to unlock the sash and pull the sash inward and over. Both the active and passive sash can be opened. The reason that the sash move away from each other prior to sliding past each other is because the weatherstrip is a bulb type compression weatherstrip. This type of weatherstrip does not rub against any part of the window and consequently will last for a very long time.
